“Beautiful things don't ask for attention”

— The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)

Right now!

I am working on an online shop to sell my paintings and especially my giclée prints.

This year

I try to find at least 30 minutes every day to read. The list of books on hold is long. But I don't mind. The power of the long term is powerful. Some of these books:
- Mark McGuinness—Productivity for Creative People
- Rachel L. Carson—El sentido del asombro (The Sense of Wonder)
- Ellen J. Langer—On Becoming an Artist
- Marià Corbí—El sentir hondo de la vida
- David George Haskel—En un metro de bosque (The Forest Unseen: A Year's Watch in Nature)
- Rob Walker—The Art of Noticing
- Agnes Martin—La perfection inhérente à la vie
Ursula K. Le Guin & Tao Te Ching
Many people are familiar with the literary work of Ursula K. Le Guin's literary work. What not so many people know is the version of the Tao Te Ching that she translated and commented on. The Tao Te Ching accompanied Ursula K. Le Guin for more than 40 years. And reading her version is really a delight. I am reading slowly, one chapter a day. Savouring and meditating on this universal work of wisdom.
The main purpose of why I walk 5 km (3.1 miles) 4 days a week, is not because of how healthy it is (which it is) or to certain meet self-motivating challenges (I'm not interested in that dynamic).
Walking facilitates the connection of ideas, creativity, intro inspection, looking without judging, the silencing of the ego.
Walking is like a poetic performance. Every step is a verse. Walking like this is where the beauty of the cosmos catches you.

My story

Pere Rius (b. 1968)Full-time artist since 2017. I work between Barcelona and Reus.Studies of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. Before 2017 my professional dedication has been linked to the world of entrepreneurship and startups.I consider myself a proactive self-taught person with curiosity and interest in things.I understand art as an opportunity to get to know a qualitative reality of our world. The artist, through his research and his proposal, brings us closer to that possibility.I hope you enjoy my work and do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further information.

I don’t fully comprehend painting unless it is accompanied by an investigative mindset. “To paint is to live” as my esteemed Bram van Velde once said. Any serious research generates a period of uncertainty that ultimately becomes certainty. For me painting is an experience that is very close to poetic silence. Fecund. Condensed. Like a haiku.
